Are we having fun yet? 2 days down, 1459 to go

You know, I would think that even if you’re a supporter of the bankruptcy expert the inauguration and the following day had to be pretty depressing. Not one moment of grace in the petulant child’s speech. Basically, in case anyone was wondering, it’s going to be full-out war for his entire term. And it seems the country has woken up to this reality, as his favorable ratings sink ever lower and it was, well, an embarrassingly small turnout for what had always been one of the greater aspects of our democracy to celebrate: the peaceful transfer of power. That is, had been. But Melania looked nice. Speaking of Melania and her husband, I’ve got to believe they’re the first first couple with a prenuptial agreement. Isn’t it romantic? Yep.

Trump and his supporters had it even worse the day after he was sworn in. It seems millions turned out to protest the very thought of this guy being in the White House. It was called the Women’s March in Washington but these protests were also held in a number of other cities, including many outside the country. Now there’s a feat. Little did Donald Trump know how he was going to be so proficient in bringing the world together, though likely not how he had envisioned it. It is going to be very interesting to see how Trump spins this massive rebuke. He’s already gotten all huffy about the small size of the audience who showed up for his inauguration. So he did what he always does, simply made up numbers. It was a million, or more, I tell you!

And so it goes. The chronic liar in (oh my God) chief! But there is some good news. General James Mattis was confirmed as Secretary of Defense. Mattis is qualified and will have no problem speaking truth to power. I wonder how long he’ll last.
