Heavenly number 12

If there are baseball gods, the Cubs will beat the Pirates (win #1) tonight so that the drama of the iconic rivalry of the former with the Cardinals will be magically acted out in the playoffs.

If there are baseball gods, the Cubs would then beat the Cardinals for wins 2, 3 and 4 enabling them to go on to the National League Championship Series.

If there are baseball gods, the Cubs would face the Mets in the NLCS. If there are baseball gods, the Cubs would beat the Mets to notch victories 5, 6, 7 and 8. I mean, after ’69, it’s only fair.

If there are baseball gods, the Cubs would get wins 9, 10, 11 and 12 by sweeping the Houston Astros in the World Series. And if you don’t believe in baseball gods, just how did the National League team the White Sox swept in the 2005 World Series somehow end up in the American League so the Cubs could do the same?  And if you think it’s a shame Ernie wasn’t around to see it, think again. Just how do you think the baseball gods were persuaded to have the Cubs win the World Series? Ye of little faith.
